...and I'm getting nervous and very excited for Chile/ Santiago.
Tamara, Olivia and I are trying to mark everything off of the list with places to see and things I have to do in Los Angeles:
On Sunday we went to Pasadena and Monterey, two little parts of Los Angeles near the foothills. The little boy in Monterey was absolutely right, "this place is dead" :D It was a Sunday, most of the stores were closed and it was pretty hot for californian standards, so people didn't really leave their houses...it was still pretty cute and we had a good time looking through books in a bookstore ;)
Next stop was Downtown LA. We went to Chinatown, a Mexican Plaza, Union Station, the new Cathedral of LA, the Disney Concert Hall and Little Tokyo, where we ate at the end of the day.
On Monday Olivia, a friend of hers and I went to the beach and walked down Venice. I saw "LMFAO" (you probably know their song "party rock") producing their new music video at the beach. It was interesting to watch...
Today school started again so I'm all by myself. I will head off to the beach and Main street again as soon as I finish this post :)

more Los Angeles...
I did a little bit more sightseeing the last few days: I went to see the view from the Los Angeles Observatory, which is pretty nice, and walked around Hollywood.
Hollywood was pretty crowded and very touristy though...there is not much to look at besides theaters, walk of fame and people in the guise of a famous person. But you know, if you are in Los Angeles you should see all that ;)
Tamara and I also went to the oldest Restaurant in Hollywood and had lunch. The inside was really cute and the food was delicious and not even that expensive. You guys should check it out if you are as lucky as I am and walk around Hollywood.
I don't know what else there is to see but Tamara and Olivia still have a lot on their list...

If you're going to San Francisco...
...you will fall in love with it!
I did have Internet but no time at all to write in here...so sorry for that. I will catch up on that now ;)
We (Tamara, Olivia & I) started our trip to San Francisco on Thursday. We hit the road in the early afternoon to reach our goal and have dinner in San Francisco. The fastest way to get there is a five to six hour drive through ugly farmers land and large-scale livestock farming. Your hunger for meat wanes immediately!! Not very exciting but totally worth it once we got to San Francisco and ate pizza in "Little Italy". After we were done eating we drove down the Lombard Street (crookedest street in the world) and went to Oakland-just on the other side of Bay Bridge-where friends of Tamara live. They let us stay at their house for the weekend, so that we didn't have to pay for a hostel or something.
San Francisco is so beautiful even at night! I saw a lot of it while we were trying to find a parking spot -which usually takes a long time- but we were lucky and had the "parking gods" with us, so it only took 15 minutes ;)
The next day started at noon, when Steve, Tamara's husband, drove us around Oakland until he had to get back to his hotel. He was on tour with some country singer called "Nick13", who happened to have a concert that night. After we dropped Steve off we made our way to San Francisco over the Bay Bridge.
The first part we saw, was "Fishermen's wharf" with it's beautiful view over the sea, Alcatraz (famous prison on a little island near San Francisco) and a huge sailing boat. Next stations were "Grace Cathedral", a very nice and big cathedral, and "Chinatown", which is a lot better than the one in New York. While seeking a place to park, we saw a lot of nice houses and buildings. And since the parking gods hadn't left us yet we found a good parking spot near "Fog City Diner", where we had dinner. The food there was sooo delicious!! I'm glad I had Tamara and Olivia with me to show me good places to eat. After driving around the city a little bit more, we picked Steve up to have coffee and eat desert at an italian pastry. Very good again...No doubt, the Mugalians definitely know where and what to eat! Sounds like I haven't done anything else except eating :D but it really wasn't like that.
The last thing we did for the first day on San Francisco was going to Steve's gig at this concert I talked about earlier. "Nick13" himself was not really my thing but the woman before him was very good and it was nice to see Steve play the drums ;)
Well, that was my first day in San Francisco!
The second day started with a lot of traffic...trying to get over the Bay Bridge to San Francisco we got stuck for over an hour!! It was already 2 o'clock and we haven't had breakfast...so the first thing we did was eating at "Yank Sing", a very good Chinese place. You don't order your food there...they bring different things to you and you tell them if you want it or not ;)
Satisfied and well-fed we went to "Haight Ashbury", where we met with one of Olivia's friends, who happened to be at San Francisco that day. That part of SF is known as the quarter where the Hippie scene started to get big in the 60s and you can definitely tell ;)
It was already getting late so we went to see the "Castro"-quarter, the gay neighborhood of the City and a symbol for transgender activism, and had a coffee there.
Later that day we went to see the "Golden Gate Bridge", which kind of disappeared in the fog, and the "Palace of Fine Arts". At 10 pm our stomachs craved for food, so went to little Italy and ate pasta.
We got home at midnight and went to bed immediately...
The ride back to Los Angeles was a thousand times more beautiful than the ride towards SF. We took the 101 this time, which runs directly next to the coast but also takes twice as long.
It was the most beautiful ride I have ever had...the landscape was incredible!! I will upload some pictures for you, but those don't really show how beautiful it really was ;) You will have to see it yourself...
100 miles from Los Angeles we got stuck in traffic again so we arrived at home at about three in the morning. I was glad I didn't have work that day, like Tamara and Olivia had^^

You should really see San Francisco some time it's one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen and will see!

New LA experience
Gestern war ich das erste mal mit dem Fahrrad unterwegs...das ist hier gerade voll im Trend. Allerdings ist es noch ein bisschen gefährlich, wenn man sich nicht auskennt. Es gibt keine Fahrradwege, auf den Gehwegen fahren ist verboten und die Autofahrer verhalten sich auch so als wenn du gar nicht existieren würdest. Zusammengefasst heißt das also, dass es die Fahrradfahrer noch ziemlich schwer haben ;) Ich bin froh, dass ich mich auf meiner ersten Fahrradtour durch LA an Olivia orientieren konnte.
Heute Nachmittag geht es dann los nach San Francisco :) Darauf freue ich mich schon riiiesig, nachdem ich bestimmt 1000-mal gehört habe wie "amazing" die Stadt sein soll. Ich fahre zusammen mit Tamara und Olivia und treffe dort das erste mal auf Steve(ihr Ehemann), der dort einen Gig hat. Wie es der Zufall will, haben die dort Freunde, die über das Wochenende verreisen und uns ihr Haus zur Verfügung stellen. Alles ziemlich kurzfristig geplant und doch so perfekt!
Ich gehe jetzt erstmal frühstücken und danach packen.
Ich habe keine Ahnung, ob die dort Internetzugang haben...ihr hört so früh wie möglich von mir.

Ersten drei Tage in Santa Monica
I love it so far!!
Nachdem wir am Samstag zuhause angekommen sind, bin ich mit Olivia(Tamara's Tochter) in einen nahe gelegenen Park gefahren-mit dem Bus, hier gibt es nämlich ausnahmsweise mal öffentliche Verkehrsmittel-, wo wir Freunde von ihr getroffen haben. Es war mehr ein kleines Konzert, als ein normales Zusammentreffen von Freunden...jeder konnte irgendein Musikinstrument richtig gut spielen und hat eine kleine Kostprobe von seinem Können vorgespielt. Manche von denen waren ziemlich gut!! Nachdem wir den ganzen Tag im Park verbracht hatten, sind wir zum Abendessen zu Olivias Oma gefahren.
Den zweite Tag sind wir weiter in den Osten von Los Angeles gefahren und haben uns ein bisschen die Stadt angeguckt. Den Rest des Tages waren wir auf einem Festival, auf dem viele verschiedene Bands gespielt haben. Wie ihr sicherlich schon gemerkt habt, bin ich mitten in der Musikszene gelandet ;)
Heute waren wir im Supermarkt shoppen und sind dann zum Strand gefahren, wo ich im Pazifik schwimmen gegangen bin:)

Arrived in LA
I arrived at the Los Angeles airport just in time...AND I got my suitcase this time ;) Tamara and Olivia picked me up and we went out for breakfast at an hawaian restaurant. I liked it.
Los Angeles is totally different from Wichita. You can tell by looking at the people...there are just so many different types of people. The city is beautiful, I love all the little houses and the neighbourhoods in general.
The house I'm going to stay in for the next three weeks is little but really cute. It's a nice neighbourhood and really close to the sea and the city. I know I'm going to have a great time.
That's my first impression;)

First post in english...
Right now, I'm sitting at the airport and waiting to get on my flight to Los Angeles. The flight from Wichita to Denver was only one hour, so that went really fast...the flight to Los Angeles should be about four hours. Not too bad since I'm getting used to all that flying ;)
If everything works out fine, Tamara(friend of my mom, who lives in SantaMonica) will pick me up at the airport. I'm going to stay with her three weeks until my trip goes on to Santaigo.
I'm really excited to see Los Angeles and hopefully San Francisco ;)

Very last Day in Rose Hill :(
Den letzten Tag in Rose Hill habe ich mit einem Workout gestartet...Molly und ich sind um 7 Uhr zur Sporthalle gefahren, um mit ein paar von ihren Cheerleader-Mädels zu laufen. Letztendlich ist aber niemand aufgetaucht und wir sind zu zweit gelaufen. Nach dem Frühstück haben wir uns wieder mit dem Puzzel beschäftigt, bis wir uns dann um 13 Uhr auf dem Weg zum Kino gemacht haben. Der Film hieß "The Help" und handelte über Slavery in den 60er Jahren. Ziemlich ernstes Thema, aber es waren auch viele lustig Stellen drin. Also wenn der Film auch in Deutschland rauskommt kann ich ihn nur empfehlen ;)
Auf dem Weg nach Hause haben wir noch in einer kleinen Boutique angehalten und noch ein bisschen geshoppt ;)
Jetzt sitze ich gerade in meinem Zimmer und packe meine Sachen zusammen...ich hoffe es passt alles in meinen Koffer.

Letzte Woche in Rose Hill :(
So, Endspurt ist angesagt...
Am Montag war ich mit Molly, ihrem Freund, Tessa, Aaron(Cousin) und einem Freund von Aaron im "All Star Sport"-Park. Dort haben wir den ganzen Tag mit Minigolf spielen und Go Kart fahren verbracht :) had lots of fun!!
Den Dienstag haben Liz, Molly und ich mit einem kleinen Workout gestartet. Später sind wir in die Mall shoppen gefahren. Ich konnte mich zurückhalten und habe mir nichts gekauft ;) Viel Paltz ist eh nicht mehr in meinem Koffer...und ich bin gerade mal einen Monat unterwegs!
Hui, wie schnell die Zeit vergeht. "Nur noch" 9 Monate, bis ich wieder nach Hause komme.
Gestern sind wir morgens wieder laufen gewesen und sind dann wieder in die Mall gefahren, weil wir den Tag davor nicht alle Läden geschafft haben, die wir wollten :D Ich habe mir Schuhe gekauft...das war aber auch schon alles!!
Yeah! Jetzt seid ihr endlich auf dem neuesten Stand...

3te Woche in Rose Hill
Ich fasse euch die Woche wie immer in Kurzfrom zusammen...
Da ich mir das iPad die Woche geholt hatte, habe ich mich logischerweise viel mit meiner neuen Errungenschaft beschäftigt. Außerdem bin ich auch endlich dazu gekommen mir den letzten Harry Potter Film anzugucken...der Film war gut, das Buch ist besser;)
Die nächsten fünf Tage habe ich so dies und das unternommen...unteranderem sind wir wieder golfen gegangen -I sucked this time :( -, waren in einem asiatischen Restaurant, wo der Koch direkt vor dir kocht, essen, haben für ein Volunteerprogramm gearbeitet, waren shoppen (diesmal sogar erfolgreich!) und sind Sonntag ein letztes Mal an den El Dorado Lake gefahren.
Mal sehen ob ich gute Fotos von der Woche finde, die ich euch hier reinstellen kann.
Okay, so langsam hole ich auf ;) ich hänge nur noch ein paar Tage hinterher. juhu.

Louisburg und Overland Park
Nach dem Wochenende am Lake habe ich ein paar Tage bei meiner Grandma in Louisburg verbracht. Perfekt, um mich ein bisschen von der vergangenen Woche auszuruhen. Da Grandma auf dem Land wohnt -aber so richtig!!- haben wir nicht so viel unternommen...ich hatte drei schön ruhige Tage, in denen ich die meiste Zeit gelesen habe, bei Walmart war und viel Zeit mit Grandma verbracht habe;)
Am Ende der Woche (29te Juli) bin ich dann weiter zu den Mohr's gefahren. Dort habe ich meine erste Baby shower Party miterlebt. In Amerika ist es üblich der Nachbarstochter so eine Party zu schmeißen, wenn sie ein Baby bekommt...bei Kaffee und Kuchen, werden Spiele gespielt und Geschenke übergeben. Ich habe "leider" ;) nur die Hälfte der Party mitbekommen, weil ich einen Anruf von meiner Familie bekommen habe.
Abends bin ich noch mit Ellie (Cousine) und einer Freundin in die Mall gefahren, um ein bisschen zu shoppen.
Den nächsten Tag hat mich die Schwester von meinem Gastvater abgeholt, um mich wieder mit nach Rose Hill zu nehmen.

Lake of the Ozarks vom 22.-26. Juli
Sorry guys, mein Blog hat die letzten Tage ein bisschen unter meiner Faulheit gelitten...für heute habe ich mir aber den ganzen Abend frei genommen, um die letzten Wochen für euch Revue passieren zu lassen.
Ich fange mit den Tagen am "Lake of the Ozarks" an:
Die Ellisons (Tessa ausgenommen; sie musste arbeiten) und ich sind am Freitag den 22ten spät abends am Lake angekommen. Die ganze große Familie war versammelt, bis auf Tessa, Connor(Cousin) und seine Freundin.
Die nächsten 4 Tage haben wir mit schwimmen, boating, tubing, Beachvolleyball, dancing und vielen anderen Aktivitäten, die mit Wasser zu tun haben, verbracht ;)
Besonders schön war der erste Abend, als wir alle zusammen tanzen gegangen sind. Die Erwachsenen waren schon ein bisschen angetrunken und haben auf der Tanzfläche so richtig abgerockt...der jüngere Jahrgang, including me, war natürlich auch mittendrin! Später gab es noch ein großes Feuerwerk. Den letzten Tag sind ein paar von uns von einer ziemlich hohen Klippe gesprungen. Ja, ich war natürlich eine von den Verrückten;) Fotos von meinem Sprung bekommt ihr auch noch zu sehen...
Okay, das war meine ziemlich komprimierte Zusammenfassung von meiner Zeit am "Haus am See" :P

Großes Wiedersehen mit meiner zweiten Familie :)
Nachdem ich wiedermal den ganzen Tag in der Luft war oder auf irgendwelchen Flughäfen rumhing, bin ich spät abends in Wichita angekommen. Die Ellisons erwarteten mich schon sehnsüchtig :) und zu meinem Pech auch mein Koffer...sonst hätte ich so richtig shoppen gehen können (auf Kosten der Airline natürlich). Das können Tessa, Molly und ich nämlich ziemlich gut.
Die folgende Woche waren wir im Zoo, haben Golf gespielt, hatten ne fette Party im Partybus (awesome!!), sind an den El Dorado See gefahren (includes swimming, cruising with the boat and waverunning), haben neue Restaurants ausprobiert und sind shoppen gegangen. Die restliche Zeit haben wir wegen dem Wetter meistens drinnen verbracht^^ Also die 40 Grad-Marke haben wir in Kansas schon längst überschritten. Am Anfang hat es mich immer regelrecht erschlagen, wenn ich gezwungener Maßen nach draussen musste.
So, für heute habe ich genug zurück geblickt!

Rückblick
Mein Abflug ging am 8.Juli um 6:30 Uhr vom Hamburger Flughafen. Von dort aus bin ich nach London geflogen, wo ich circa acht Stunden Aufenthalt hatte...ACHT Stunden!!! Es war so unglaublich langweilig. Und zu allem Übel funktionierte mein iPod nicht mehr. Naja ich habe es überstanden und bin abends um 17:00 Uhr am JFK Flughafen in New York, kofferlos aber sonst wohlauf, angekommen.
Die nächsten vier Tage habe ich in Katonah -ca. 1 Stunde Zugfahrt von downtown Manhatten- bei Nicki und Jörg (der Bruder von meiner Patentante) verbracht. Nochmal ein ganz großes "Dankeschön" an Nicki und Jörg für die perfekte Unterkunft! Den zweiten Tag bin ich morgens um 7:30 Uhr mit dem Zug nach Manhatten gefahren. Es war ein bisschen scary so ganz alleine im riesigen New York...ich habe aber alles erstaunlich gut gefunden und mir einen schönen Sightseeing-Tag in New York gemacht. Den nächsten Tag standen Empire State Builiding, Rockefeller Center, Macy's (most biggest store in the US) und Central Park auf dem Plan. Die Aussicht vom Empire State Building ist echt atemberaubend.
Meine Füße sahen nach zwei Tagen pausenlos gehen -apparently, in den falschen Schuhen- ziemlich mitgenommen aus...ich sehe jetzt nach 2 1/2 Wochen immernoch an welchen Stellen ich mir die schlimmsten Blasen gelaufen habe!
Insgesamt war die Zeit in New York super schön und aufregend.
Tipp an alle, die irgendwann mal in New York sind: wenn ihr die Bustour mit "Greyline" macht kauft euch erstmal nur die Tour durch Downtown Manhatten und versucht euch "aus Versehen" in die Tour durch Brooklyn/Bronx einzuschleichen. Bei mir hat es geklappt, und ich bin wirklich nur aus Versehen in den falschen Bus eingestiegen ;) --> durch Dummheit Geld gespart :D

Gettin' started
Soo, jetzt ist es endlich so weit. Ich habe mir gestern ein iPad geholt und kann nun meinen Blog starten! Da ich super fleißig war und jeden Tag in eines meiner vielen Tagebücher-danke nochmal dafür, ich werde alle gebrauchen können- geschrieben habe, kann ich alles, was ich bis jetzt erlebt habe, nachtragen ;)
Ich werde ein Teil meiner Einträge in Englisch verfassen -für meine amerikanischen Freunde- das sollte für die meisten unter euch ja kein Problem sein :P
